A good friend, Aleksandra, once told me about the concept of The Feather, The Brick and The Truck. It is about the universe trying to send us messages. The Feather – is the first message we get, a gentle reminder or push in a particular direction. The Brick – a not so gentle reminder. The Truck – a nasty reminder, event or incident that has a major effect on our lives.
Let me explain the concept to you.
You have become unwell, decide to go to work because you have so much work to catch up on. Your boss notices that you’re unwell and suggests for you to take the rest of the day off – this is the Feather.
You didn’t listen to the feather so now you are hit by a brick, a not so gentle reminder. As the day progresses you become increasingly unwell, you have a headache and your neck is really sore finding it harder to think clearly and your stress levels are increasing. You are feeling terrible but decide to push through.
Then you’re hit by a Truck! The next day you physically can not move, your body has shut down and you have become that unwell that your body has now taken control of you in order to heal.
If you had listened to the feather and took the rest of the day off, you would have kicked your sickness in the butt, felt better the following day instead of your body shutting down and countless days missed at work.
It pays to listen to your body.
