If we don’t have good posture while we’re seated, we tend to slouch (slump), this generally occurs at our lumbar spine, rounding out causing uneven pressure of our discs, then we have excessive kyphosis of our mid spine and last but not least our shoulders are rounded and our head is poking forward causing a lot of pressure through our neck and mid spine. Your body likes to function 50/50, that is 50% effort from the muscles at the front of your body and 50% effort from the muscles at the back of your body. When the body is not functioning at 50/50 you can begin to feel tension, which then can lead to pain if left untreated. To help you with decreasing the amount of times you become uncomfortable while sitting down, try these:
• Bruggers exercise: This helps you improve your posture whilst sitting and gives you more body awareness https://youtu.be/GECGrHIpFT4
• This is a very good video to watch as it provides information about the most comfortable way to sit during the day and always taking pressure off your lower spine https://youtu.be/k1luKAS_Xcg
If you can try these throughout your day, it will increase your mood, increase your performance in the work space, you will grow taller, more confident and you will enjoy day to day with minimal to no pain.
