Cupping is a traditional Chinese medicine method used to disperse stagnation (stagnate blood or lymph) to help treat respiratory diseases such as the common cold, pneumonia and bronchitis. A cup is placed on the skin over the targeted area through suction. The suction can be achieved by the use of a mechanical pump or by the heating and subsequent cooling of the cup (flame). Cupping has minimal discomfort, decreases pain, improves restrictions throughout the body, assists in the removal of waste products and encourages healing.
Now that you have a brief understanding about Cupping, here is what Adrianne had to say about her treatment;
What made you decide to schedule a Cupping appointment?
I like to try alternative treatments and heard of the benefits of cupping. I normally get a massage but wanted to try something different. My main purpose was for relaxation but also for some tension relief and just my general wellbeing, it is good to treat your body to some TLC.
What results were you expecting to gain from your treatment?
I was expecting to feel how I feel after a massage, relaxed, better movement, not so tight.
Describe how it felt when the cups were being applied to your body. Did it hurt, did you feel uncomfortable?
The cups did not hurt at all. It just felt like suction on the skin, which is actually a comfortable feeling for me. I felt like the cups were sucking out all the badness under the skin. The whole session was very relaxing.
Explain how you felt after the cups were removed. Was it uncomfortable, did you feel a release or nothing at all?
When the cups came off is when I actually felt how much suction they had. As soon as they came off you could feel the looseness and release through the muscles. It is hard to explain but I guess it is the blood flowing more freely.
Explain how you felt the following days post treatment. Were you tired, did you have increased energy, more freedom in movement?
After treatment I felt I had better movement, more fluid. I actually felt like I had more energy as well the day after..
Would you recommend Cupping to others and why?
I would recommend cupping for the many health benefits that it has but also for the general relaxing experience that the treatment provides. For me I really felt the benefits of the treatment, movement, release and energy.
